THE BEATLES’ REVOLVER TAKES TO THE HIGH SEAS
Worthwhile Music presents the launch of "REVOLVER THE HARBOR CRUISE"
on Sunday 17 March, featuring some of Sydney’s most critically acclaimed
pop/rock artists paying tribute to the legendary Beatles’ album.
The cruise showcases David McCormack (Custard/Titanics) and Jamie
Hutchings (Bluebottle Kiss), and sets sail at 1 pm sharp from King
Street Wharf #7, Darling Harbor, returning at 5 pm. Tickets are
$30 and can be purchased at Red Eye Records or from www.worthwhilemusic.com.
The cruise will start out with a set of acoustic non-Revolver Beatles
songs to get the crowd all fired up. Performers include members
of the Scruffs, the Pyramidiacs, Soap Star Joe, Major, and Jason
Walker and the Last Drinks. The second set is what everyone will
be waiting for the entire Revolver album (chosen by MOJO magazine
as the greatest album ever made) played in order by a house band
and rotating vocalists. The super-group making up the house band
is Bill Gibson (Lemonheads/Pyramidiacs) on bass, Matt Galvin (Scruffs/Eva
Trout) on lead guitar, Eddie Owen (Pyramidiacs) on rhythm guitar,
and Michael Carpenter (renowned local producer/solo artist) on drums.
Revolver vocals will be sung by David McCormack, Jamie Hutchings,
Danny and Jarrod Murphy from Major, and members of the house band.
More artists and special guests are due to be added to the final
roster. "It‘s a once in a lifetime event to assemble musicians of
this caliber to pay tribute to such an influential album," says
Worth Wagers, founder and President of Worthwhile Music. "Revolver
the Harbor Cruise" is the brainchild of Worth Wagers and Ryan
Ellsmore (Scruffs). "We were having a few at our local; the Robin
Hood in Charing Cross, and the idea just hit us, like divine inspiration"
explains Ellsmore. "We knew instantly this was an event that would
be embraced by the music fans of Sydney, and so we worked out the
details right then and there." The cruise takes place on Sydney
Glass Island (www.sydneyglassisland.com.au), a stunning 25 meter
boat with 360 degree 3 meter-high glass encased views on the main
deck, along with an intimate bar lounge below deck, and a large
upper al fresco style open deck with two mobile bars. The upper-deck
bars are key, as March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day, and demand for
alcohol is expected to be high. The total capacity of the boat is
extremely limited at 300, so punters should reserve their spots
as soon as possible, as it will sell out quickly. Cruise goers must
arrive at the wharf at 12:30 to board the boat, as it leaves at
1 pm sharp. Worthwhile Music is an independent music management,
booking and promotional concern, founded by Worth Wagers, former
label manager and A&R representative for Longshot Records. For further
